The Interior Ministry of Karelia did not initiate a criminal case against Petrozavodsk resident Dmitry Petrov, whom the city authorities suspected of fraud, NTV reported . The man several times managed to collect from the mayor’s office money for repairing the car because of bad roads, and it was considered suspicious.

The head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Karelia told the television station that Petrov’s actions do not discern signs of a crime. At the same time, NTV noted that the mayor’s office was preparing an application to the prosecutor’s office.

In April, the administration of Petrozavodsk asked the police to check the driver, who claimed money for repairing the car because of bad roads – he landed three times in the pit in his car. Over the past two years, he filed three claims for compensation for damage after an accident due to poor quality roads. In all cases, the court obliged the administration to pay damages. In total, the man sued the authorities about 180 thousand rubles.

In two of the three suits, the man demanded to pay the same amount of damage, which is why the authorities suggested that the driver intentionally spoils the car in order to receive money from the authorities.
