In South Korea, cybersport is taken seriously. And in-game violations are ready to be considered in the field of the criminal code. This was proven by recent court decisions on two cheaters who received a game advantage in Overwatch. One player was fined $ 9,300, and another was sentenced to a suspended sentence of two years.
If he violates the conditions of his stay at large, he may well be behind bars in a Korean prison. Another 11 cheaters who were caught in January this year, will be brought to trial in the near future.
It should be noted that these are quite mild sentences. Indeed, more recently, in South Korea, there are criminal articles for cheating, for which the maximum penalty can be five years in prison and a fine of $ 40,000.
Earlier this month, China arrested 15 people who created and distributed cheating programs for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
