The ruling party of Armenia voted against Pashinyan in the elections of the prime minister

He was the only candidate.

The parliamentary faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia decided to vote against Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister of Armenia, Interfax reported . 55 people voted against him (there are 58 deputies in the Republican Party), for 45 people.

Considering the threats in the event of our country’s rejection of the existing policy, considering the fateful threats in the event of its election to the post of prime minister, the Republican Party declares that we recognize the victory of the people’s movement, we agree with the criticism of the social and economic situation in the country, movement and responded to this with the resignation of Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan. We will vote against the candidacy of N. Pashinyan in order to avoid visible threats, a big wave of instability.

According to the Armenian legislation, if the Prime Minister is not elected at a special session of the parliament, then a week later they hold new elections for the prime minister. To enter a new candidature, at least a third of the votes of 105 deputies (ie, 35 votes) is required. If the prime minister is not elected for the second time, then the parliament is dissolved, and its elections are held within 30-45 days.
