Microsoft and Google replaced the emoji of a real gun with a water gun – following the example of Apple

April 26, Microsoft announced that it will change the emoto of the real revolver to a water pistol, following the “feedback” of users.

Microsoft followed the example of Apple, which was the first of the technology companies to introduce a pictogram with toy weapons back in 2016. In this case, the creators of Windows in 2016, on the contrary, replaced the space blaster with a revolver in order to differ from the competitor and follow the “industrial standards”.

Now among the catching up Apple as Microsoft, and Google , Twitter and Facebook . In the near future these companies will replace the pictograms of real pistols with water pistols, although in 2017 they refused this idea. As noted in the encyclopedia of Emojipedia, “Apple is clearly smarter than the rest in the design of emoji.”

Substitutions of weapons emoji in 2016 were demanded by activists, who advocated tightening the law on carrying weapons. Two years later, almost all technology companies first expressed their support for the introduction of arms control. This happened against the background of new American protests and recent shootings in schools.
