A Colorado resident, Crystal Tadlock, received a $ 500 fine for taking an apple out of the plane. Fruits were distributed on Delta flight, but she took her food with her, which is prohibited by the rules of the US Customs.

Tadlok was returning from Paris to Denver when she received a sealed bag of apples from the stewardess. She was not hungry and was going to eat it during a transfer to a flight to Colorado. At the airport an American was stopped by a customs officer who checked the bag, saw an apple and wrote a fine of 500 dollars (about 30 thousand rubles). She also was annulled as a Global Entry, allowing proven passengers to pass through the search faster.

According to Tadlock, none of Delta employees warned her about the need to eat fruit before leaving the plane. And the agent to whom she showed a transparent bag with the airline logo, said that there are no guarantees that she did not report her apple there. “It’s unpleasant when a person has to feel like a criminal because of some fruit,” the American added.

As noted by the CNN channel, according to the US customs regulations, international flights passengers are required to declare any fresh fruit before the flight, otherwise they will be fined.

In Delta explained that the rules of transportation clearly spelled out points about fruits and other products, and passengers were asked to eat fruit before leaving the plane. The US customs officials noted that restrictions exist for a long time, undeclared fruits are disposed of, and passengers face fines of up to a thousand dollars.

Despite the response of the airline and authorities, Tadlok intends to appeal the fine, which must be paid within 12 days. She is sure that the employee behaved too rudely, and at the airport there were no warnings about fresh fruit. Also, the American wants to regain her Global Entry status, which cost $ 160.
