Roskomnadzor requested from Cambridge Analytica information about the possible use of personal data of Russian users of Facebook. As a representative of the regulator told Vedomosti, this happened on April 13, but the company has not responded yet.
On April 18, the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov said that the regulator will conduct a Facebook check and, if he does not comply with the requirements of Russian legislation, will begin blocking.
On March 19, it became known that Cambridge Analytics, bypassing Facebook’s rules, used the data of millions of users, including for political purposes. It is not known how many of them are from Russia. Mark Zuckerberg admitted the mistake and apologized to the audience. In response, users launched a boycott of #DeleteFacebook , which even co-founder WhatsApp called for (the messenger belongs to Facebook).
