Photographer Pelle Cass from Massachusetts presented a series of photo collages Crowded Fields on sports. Each of his work is created from several frames of the same competitions, made from one point and combined into a single image.
I avoid the plot of a particular game or sports event. In fact, I reorder the sequence of events in such a way that my images become nonsense from a sporting point of view. I also like that the relationship between spectators and the event is turned around: in my pictures the crowd is on the field, and the stands are almost empty.
According to the photographer, his collages help to more accurately convey the feelings of the event at the stadium or in the pool. The human eye does not snatch a static image during the competition, but the viewer may have the impression of a crush during the match – this is Cass’s impression and tries to transfer it to the photo.
