In the light of the recent events (the blockage of Telegram and in general a large number of services), many users of the Russian Internet have been puzzled by the issue of acquiring Proxy / Socks Proxy or VPN.
Proxy is certainly a handy tool, but in my opinion it more covers the needs of spam and automation of robots on the Internet, rather than full access to the Internet, although of course if the application supports it, then it gives a choice. But I’m pretty sure that not all users are ready to do half-measures and expect the next mass-used service to appear on the black lists of Roskomnadzor, so they prefer VPN servers that provide more convenience in use than a proxy server, while adding an encryption layer to all traffic , which in our turbulent time has become under constant surveillance.
Not all users are ready to use large VPN services, as they too can be jeopardized by blockages these days, and not all have time to go searching for services in search of their ideal.
So I decided to tell you how to raise your VPN Server with IKEv2 encryption in just two clicks.
The process takes a couple of minutes from start to finish if you have a basic knowledge of SSH. If there is no basic knowledge, then it will take 15-30 more minutes to work with Google 🙂
We will need any inexpensive VDS server, for convenience (as well as predictable prices) I use a DigitalOcean server where when registering for my referral link you can get $ 10 dollars to your account, which will allow you to use your VPN server for free for two months!
You will also need a little knowledge of SSH and how to work with it, I’ve got some pretty good instructions , but you can find additional information on Google or YouTube.
Choose an image -> Container distributions -> CoreOS
Choose a size -> Standard Droplets -> 1 GB
Choose a datacenter region -> Frankfurt
Add your SSH keys -> Here you need to use your SSH key.
After your Droplet is created, you need to connect to it using SSH using your private key and command.
Where YOUR.DROPLET.IP.ADDRESS is the IP4 address of your server (Droplet’s), you can find out on the Droplet’s information page.
After connecting to the server, you should see a greeting of the form
~ ssh [email protected]

Here in this greeting we insert a command
curl -s https://gist.githubusercontent.com/phpdude/ee8217d42d22fd83cc4243f618c93acf/raw/vpn.sh> vpn.sh && chmod + x vpn.sh && ./vpn.sh
And press Enter.
After downloading everything you need, you will be given a link to your ikev2-vpn.mobileconfig file, which you can open on your phone or computer and clicking “on, then on …” set the VPN profile to your device.
You can send this file with your VPN profile to your wife, son, daughter, mistress, Volodya from the ground floor ! He will also appreciate and guarantee you a beer from him! Do not hesitate to engage in charity 🙂 Your server will be enough for a large number of people with ease!
Congratulations! Your traffic from this moment is not subject to Russian laws, is fast and completely encrypted from prying eyes!
The theoretical connection speed on your own VPN server should be about 100MBit / second and higher (depending on the server configuration).
