City-manager of Belgrade Goran Vesic said that the city authorities decided to remove the bust of Gagarin, previously installed on one of the streets of the Serbian capital.
We stated that during the design process the requirements of the fund as a customer were not met, and neither the city of Belgrade, nor the department for the protection of cultural monuments, nor the Ministry of Culture were included in the process of approving the appearance.
The bust was removed from the pedestal, which remained standing in its original place.

Earlier on the Internet, the monument was ridiculed because a relatively small bust was installed on a massive base, which made it practically impossible to discern a man of average height.
