The first crop of vegetables was collected in Antarctica (4 photos)

In Antarctica, the German station Neumeyer III managed to harvest the first crop of vegetables grown in a high-tech greenhouse. The average air temperature on the continent is -20 degrees, the sun hardly rises above the horizon, vegetables grew without earth, daylight and pesticides, a closed cycle of liquid was used and the required carbon dioxide composition was maintained. In total it was possible to collect 3,6 kg of salad greens, 18 cucumbers and 70 radishes. In the future, similar technologies will be used to grow vegetables in space.
