“Explosive” Easter with Molotov cocktails in Greece

Residents of Neos-Cosmas in Athens for the tenth time held a traditional action near the local Temple of the Ascension, timed to the Passover. After the phrase “Christ is risen” sounded in the church and the bell-ringers began to beat the bells, the residents went out and started throwing molotov cocktails (beginning at 0:50) on the road, and also launching fireworks and firecrackers.

The city authorities reported that most citizens were informed of the action and were at a safe distance from the fire. As the correspondent of CNN stressed , the action lasted for ten minutes, and the spectacle was “not for the faint of heart, especially for the hearing, because it created the feeling that you are at war.”
