Russian Communications Minister Nikolai Nikiforov commented on the publication of Business Online, an action for blocking Telegram, filed by Roscomnadzor. Nikiforov noted that he himself uses the messenger, but called for the court’s decision to be awaited.
Here the question is not pitiful or not pitiful, the question is the observance of Russian legislation. And the legislation – this is laws and orders, including decisions of the courts. In this case, such a procedure is envisaged that a court decision is needed. So let’s wait for him and we will comply with Russian legislation together.
Earlier, Roskmonadzor filed a lawsuit against Telegram refusing to issue keys to decrypt the correspondence. The head of the Agora human rights group, Pavel Chikov, representing the interests of Telegram, reported that lawyers had not yet seen the suit and could not comment on it.
On March 20, Roskomnadzor gave Telegram 15 days to transfer the keys to decrypt the correspondence, the deadline expired on April 5.
