More than 50 leading experts in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence announced a boycott to the South Korean university KAIST. The reason is the development of weapons with AI in the walls of this educational institution. According to experts, such studies threaten the security of mankind.
The organizer of the boycott was Professor of the University of New South Wales (Australia) Toby Walsh. In his view, the development of smart weapons, which is being conducted by a number of countries (the United States, China, Russia and the United Kingdom are indicated), accelerates the arms race, and it is no longer possible to stand aside.
In this autonomous weapon, the scientist is sure, will be able to quickly unleash and scale military operations. Stop fighting clashes will be extremely difficult.
Boycott means prohibiting any contact with KAIST representatives until the weapons being developed are completely under human control.
