Wine, banquets and armored train: how the first foreign trip of Kim Jong-in as the leader of the DPRK

From March 25 to March 28, Kim Jong Un made his first foreign trip since coming to power in 2011 – he secretly arrived in China at the invitation of Xi Jinping. The meeting was unofficial: the leader of the DPRK noted that he wanted to personally congratulate the head of the PRC on his re-election.

During the visit with Kim Jong Ne, there were reporters of the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea, who filmed all the meetings and after the disclosure of the trip they published photos. They turned out to be not so much political negotiation: North Korea’s leader in the pictures mostly went to banquets, concerts and smiled a lot.

The Korean delegation arrived in China on a special armored train, which was supposed to arrive in the country secretly, but the media drew attention to it. According to The New York Times, this train is “bulletproof, slow and full of wine.”
