From March 25 to March 28, Kim Jong Un made his first foreign trip since coming to power in 2011 – he secretly arrived in China at the invitation of Xi Jinping. The meeting was unofficial: the leader of the DPRK noted that he wanted to personally congratulate the head of the PRC on his re-election.
During the visit with Kim Jong Ne, there were reporters of the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea, who filmed all the meetings and after the disclosure of the trip they published photos. They turned out to be not so much political negotiation: North Korea’s leader in the pictures mostly went to banquets, concerts and smiled a lot.
The Korean delegation arrived in China on a special armored train, which was supposed to arrive in the country secretly, but the media drew attention to it. According to The New York Times, this train is “bulletproof, slow and full of wine.”
Having met in Beijing, the heads of state made an official photo with their wives.
The photographs show that Kim Jong Un visited several banquets during the trip. Business Insider described the techniques as “luxurious”: many “delicious dishes”, fruits and wine. Also, the head of the DPRK showed performances by local choirs and dancers.
Despite the “unofficial” format of the meeting, Kim Jong-un and Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing. Western media noted that the Korean always wrote something during the speech of the head of China.
Also, Kim Jong-no showed the Chinese Scientific Academy.
After staying in Beijing for several days, the Korean delegation went back on the same armored train. According to Chinese media, the next step of Kim Jong-un will be meetings with the leaders of the United States and South Korea.
