One of the old-timers, Microsoft Terry Myerson, who worked for the company for 21 years, will step down as head of the Windows division and leave the company. At the same time, the unit will lose its independence. An official announcement about this appeared on the Microsoft website.
Terry Myerson has been developing Windows since 2013, before working on the server solutions of the company. In an official letter, Satya Nadella stressed that he was grateful to Myerson for his work and the dismissed employee “will start a new chapter in his life outside Microsoft.”
The team that worked on Windows will no longer exist as an independent structure. Instead, Microsoft will have two new large structures: Experiences and Devices will work with devices and user experience, and Rajesh Jah (Microsoft Office) will appear in his chapter; Cloud and AI Platform will combine projects based on cloud solutions and artificial intelligence. The second unit will be headed by Scott Guthrie, who directed the cloud service Azure.
Satya Nadella connects changes with the effectiveness of clouds, the increasing role of artificial intelligence and the mixing of physical and virtual reality in user experience.
