Apple released an update to iOS 11.3 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In the new version of the system, users have the opportunity to disable automatic slowing (trottling) of the processor, new Animoji emoticons, as well as ARKit and privacy improvements.
Slow down iPhone can be disabled in the “battery” in the settings of the smartphone. The feature is only available to iPhone owners 6 or later, including SE.
The system displays the remaining battery capacity and indicates if, due to problems with it, the processor speed is limited. iOS will warn you when the battery replacement time has come.
A new feature in iOS was introduced due to a scandal with artificial slowing of the speed of the iPhone. At the end of December 2017, Apple admitted that it deliberately understated the clock speed of devices, and explained this by taking care of the life of smartphones. Later the company apologized and promised to release an update, which will allow you to monitor the status of the battery.
Also in iOS 11.3, Apple improved privacy and security settings. If an application from the company requests personal information of a user like Apple ID, a special icon will appear on the screen . Apple claims that even in this case it collects data only to improve its own services. A new icon should help in the fight against false requests from scammers. The icon also appeared in the current version of macOS 10.13.14.
In addition, iOS 11.3 has four new Animoji emoticons: a lion, a bear, a dragon and a skull. They were added to the lineup to the existing animations.
The Health application has learned how to collect medical records from hospitals automatically, but so far it only works in the US and only with several organizations.
In iOS 11.3 appeared “Business Chat”, which will allow you to communicate with companies through iMessage, bypassing social networks, e-mail or phone. While this function also works only in the US and only with some companies in beta mode.
In addition to innovations, the new iOS fixed some bugs. As noted by The Verge, for example, the Smart Keyboard for the iPad is no longer disconnected at random during use.
IOS 11.3 again did not have some features that the company spoke about back in June 2017 during the presentation of the system. Among them, synchronization of messages with iCloud and AirPlay 2. Apparently, the company is not yet ready to release them, since it included them in the beta version of iOS 11.3, but excluded from the final release.
Together with the new version of the mobile system, Apple released updates for watchOS 4.3, tvOS 11.3, and for the first time after the launch it updated the smart HomePod column. The clock received a number of new animations, including one that displays the charging of the device. All other updates contain minor improvements.
