The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Nikita Kuvikov, a Ukrainian citizen (known as Evgeny Volnov). According to the investigation, Kuvikov distributed unreliable data on the death toll in a fire in the Kemerovo shopping center “Winter Cherry”.
The criminal case was initiated under Article 282 of the Criminal Code (“inciting hatred or enmity”). Representatives of the UK promised in the near future to declare Kuvikova wanted and demand to arrest him in absentia.
March 25 on YouTube-channel Wolnov appeared video with the recording of his call to Kemerovo. The audio pranker told the morgue staff that about 300 corpses were allegedly being taken from the scene of the fire. Subsequently, these rumors began to spread both through health workers and local residents, and through social networks and other popular video blogs.
According to official data, during a fire in the “Winter Cherry” shopping center in Kemerovo , 64 people died , 41 of them children. As of the morning of March 28, the remains of all the dead were removed from the rubble of the shopping center, which remained without a trace. 27 bodies have already been identified.
