Presentation Xiaomi March 24 in Shanghai is not limited to only one Mi MIX 2S – the company showed a new laptop designed specifically for gaming. On the slides of the presentation, the company signed it simply as a “monster”, but officially it’s called Mi Gaming Laptop 15.6.
Unlike similar competitors’ products, which usually have an impressive weight and dimensions (often in a special stylized gamer-themed case), Mi Gaming Laptop is thinner and lighter. The case is 20.9 millimeters in thickness, the screen is 9.9 millimeters, the body is rectangular and gray. The exact weight of the laptop is not specified, but it feels much easier and more transportable than similar models in terms of power.
The keyboard of the notebook has a multicolored adjustable backlighting, and its keys – the mechanism of pressing the “butterfly” with a smooth stroke. On the side of the main keyboard there are five programmable buttons (for example, for a super-hit or for opening a specific site in the browser). In the upper left corner there is a button “Tornado”: it transfers the cooling of the laptop to the maximum power mode, which according to the company allows for 10 minutes to reduce the heating by 3-5 ° C.
Another feature – the technology of surround sound Dolby Atmos, which was not previously in other laptops from Xiaomi. “We often die in PUBG, but we do not know why. Now we know: because it was not clear where the shot comes from, “joked Xiaomi founder Lei Jun at a presentation about the popularity of the online game in China.
Mi Gaming Laptop will be sold in two versions – with a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, a 256 GB GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM or a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video card, a 128 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM. Both versions have a 2.5-inch 1 TB hard drive and a 15.6-inch screen.
The version with GTX 1060 will cost 8999 yuan (81,000 rubles at current rate) in China, and the second version with the GTX 1050 Ti is positioned as a “entry-level gaming computer” and will cost 5,999 yuan (about 54 thousand rubles). For comparison: gaming laptops of a similar configuration (GTX 1060 with 6 GB of DDRS, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD) from Alienware and Razor are in China 16,999-17,999 yuan, more than twice as expensive as Mi Gaming Laptop.
Sales of Mi Gaming Laptop 15.6 will begin in China from April 13. On availability in other countries and prices in them so far nothing is known.
