Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds for the first time lost to Fortnite on monthly revenue, and the reason for this was active in-game sales – in February they brought Epic Games $ 126 million. It is believed that Fortnite borrowed many of the ideas of PUBG, but the key advantage was that the game “epic” is distributed free of charge.
As a result, sales of PUBG in February brought the publisher $ 103 million, a significant part fell on Steam. Fortnite, in turn, is raising funds due to the activity of gamers already caught in the game – various cosmetic “lotions” are popular.
In addition, the game is already present on all platforms and, as calculated in SensorTower, only the iOS-port brought Epic for a week of $ 1.5 million.
