Tests of engines for a new Russian superheavy rocket will take place in virtual reality. This will shorten the terms of their design and save money, Izvestia writes . For this purpose, specialized software was developed, which will be used on supercomputers.
Experts believe that modern computer simulation can replace the entire test cycle of rocket engines. The reliability of the algorithms will be verified by reproducing real ground and flight tests of the carrier “Angara-A5” that passed in 2014.
For the simulation, it is planned to use a hybrid cluster computing system GKVS-25 with a total capacity of 85 teraflops.
