Just a month ago, Samsung introduced the SSD record capacity of 30 TB, and it was already pressed on the throne. The American company Nimbus Data showed the ExaDrive DC100, which is capable of storing 100 TB of data in a standard 3.5-inch form factor (SATA).
This is 20 million songs, an average size of 5 MB, which could easily fit in a home computer. However, there is a small snag. ExaDrive DC100 is designed for installation in servers. And from here and low performance: the throughput of SSD in both directions – only 500 MB / s.
But for servers, this is a good saving in space. In one server cabinet with installed ExaDrive DC100, you can store 100 petabytes of data.
Another snag is the price of the device. It will be delivered in the summer at a price comparable to other business solutions in the field of SSD. And it can be tens of thousands of dollars.
