The Investigative Committee instituted criminal proceedings under articles 30.3 and 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the attempted murder of Yulia Skripal, the daughter of the spy-defector Sergei Skripal. According to the British authorities, they were poisoned with the nerve-paralytic substance of the combat level of the class “Rookie”. On March 8, Julia and her father were put into a coma, their condition is assessed as critical.
The investigators also opened a criminal investigation into the murder of Nikolai Glushkov, a business partner of Boris Berezovsky, who was granted asylum in the UK. On March 13 Glushkov was found dead in his house. According to Kommersant, the businessman’s neck was strangled, but it was unclear whether it was murder or suicide.
Representatives of the UK said that they were “ready to work together with the competent authorities” of the United Kingdom.
Earlier, The Telegraph reported that it was Julia Skripal who could bring the “Beginner” to the UK: allegedly unknown persons added poison to clothes or cosmetics, which the woman brought as a gift to her father. Later, British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson said that the decree on the poisoning of Sergei Skripal was most likely given personally by Putin.
