Meizu has published a patent that describes the technology of the fingerprint scanner built into the display. The patent application was filed almost a year ago, in April 2017, but the document was published only now.
The system can be used both to unlock the smartphone, and to identify the owner when paying for purchases through Android Pay and other similar services. In the patent it is not specified on which Meizu model the technology debuts. Probably, smartphones will not appear until the third quarter of this year.
Earlier, the company Vivo announced the development of the world’s first smartphone with a built-in screen fingerprint scanner. Model X20 Plus UD is estimated at about 550 euros.
