The Belgian bar The Beer Wall has placed a security system on each beer glass warning employees when it leaves the building. According to the owner of the institution Philip Maes (Philip Maes), such measures had to go because of the constant losses – every year, visitors steal from the pub four thousand mugs.

According to Maes, most tourists steal dishes. “For some reason, customers think that if they ordered a drink, the glasses go on as a present,” he added. The Telegraph noted that Belgians are serious about the subject: they have a separate glass for almost every kind of beer. Most often thieves dragged beer glasses from the Beer Wall in the form of an hourglass.

The security system cost a bar of 4 thousand euros. Maes said that the cost could be more, but on the way out of the building a scanner for a brand store has been installed for several years.

Theft of glasses is not only a problem of a Belgian bar. Institution Dulle Griet requires visitors to leave as a deposit one shoe, which is suspended in a special basket. If the bartender receives the glass back, then the client returns the shoes.
