Netflix decided to show how wide the coverage area of the channel, which officially operates in more than 190 countries. To do this, the company sent a balloon filled with helium to a height of 35 kilometers, to which was attached a box with a GoPro camera aimed at the Apple smartphone that was installed there. The project was called Netflix in Space.
The box housed everything necessary for the operation of the devices – heating and cooling systems, as well as electronics for monitoring flight figures (altitude, position in space, pressure).
GoPro recorded what was happening around and on the screen of the iPhone, on which the series “Star Trek: Discovery” was streaming. The video continued to play at an altitude of 32 thousand meters, however, as described in Netflix, the ball went up to 35 kilometers.
