The new director of the CIA will be Gina Haspel, who now holds the post of first deputy head of the department. According to The New York Times, in 2002, Haspel was in charge of a secret prison in Thailand, in which two suspects were allegedly tortured in connection with the terrorist organization Al-Qaida, which is banned in Russia. Then she allegedly participated in the destruction of video recordings of their interrogation.
Tillerson served as US Secretary of State on February 1, 2017, rumors of his resignation began to appear in November. Even then, the sources of The New York Times claimed that he could be replaced by Mike Pompeo. According to journalists, the removal of Tillerson from his post will mean the end of the “stormy” rule of the former head of Exxon Mobil, who often disagreed with the president on various foreign policy issues, including the “nuclear deal” with Iran and relations with North Korea.
