Apple confirmed that it uses the Google cloud to store iCloud services. Information about this appeared in the latest version of the iOS security guide, which appeared in January, but the media noticed this only now.
Before that, Apple used the cloud storage Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. In the new version of the document, the mention of the service from Microsoft was lost, the Google Cloud platform appeared instead.
Encrypted fragments of files are stored without information that can identify users. Third-party storage services such as [Amazon] S3 and Google Cloud are used.
The document does not indicate whether Apple is using Google cloud storage for anything other than storing photos and video. In addition, the company did not explain when the transition was first made.
Information that Apple uses Google Cloud first appeared in 2016, but had no confirmation.
