Today, within the framework of the opening MWC exhibition, Samsung will show its new flagship smartphone. we already in Barcelona and will quickly tell about all the most interesting. Official information about Galaxy S9 directly from the presentation can be read on our website late at night, but for now we will limit our assumptions regarding the novelty.Externally, the device will be similar to its predecessor, although some design and functional changes still appeared. For example, the fingerprint sensor moved under the camera’s eye. It is rumored that the frames around the perimeter of the display will slightly increase, but this is not accurate. The resolution of the screen will not change much – 2960 × 1440 pixels with a diagonal of 5.8 inches. A Gorilla Glass protective glass of the fifth version, 4 GB of RAM, a combined slot with memory card support, a glass case with a metal frame, IP68 protection and a 3000 mAh battery are still expected. But the novelty will receive a new processor Exynos 9810 (for the whole world, except for the USA) or Snapdragon 845 (for USA), stereo speakers and an updated 12-megapixel camera with a double diaphragm. It is expected that the smartphone will be even better to shoot in the twilight and darkness, and also be able to record slow motion video at a rate of 960 frames per second. The Galaxy S9 + will feature a magnified up to 6.2 inches screen and an additional rear camera for even steeper optical effects.Probably, in Europe Galaxy S9 will sell for 840 euros, and a larger model will cost 150 euros more. The release of the flagships is supposedly scheduled for March. So all this or not, we’ll find out in just a few hours. You can watch live steaming from http://www.samsung.com/uk/  or Youtube

What to expect from the presentation of new Samsung smartphones

Galaxy S9 and S9 + in the old design, but with new cameras and animated emoji.

February 25 will begin the event Samsung Galaxy Unpacked. It is expected that the company will introduce its new smartphones Galaxy S9 and S9 +.

Due to a large number of leaks, almost everything is known about devices, up to the price. A day before the event Samsung in the network appeared even one of the smartphones smartphones.

we brought together all the leaks and rumors to understand what to expect from the upcoming announcement of the Korean company.

Appearance of new devices became known one month before the presentation, and a week before the presentation in the network there were quality photos of smartphones from different angles. Apparently, Galaxy S9 and S9 + will not somehow radically differ from the previous model. Smartphones will be released in three colors: “coral blue”, “midnight black” and “purple-violet.”

The frame of the screen became even thinner, the fingerprint scanner was moved under the camera – before it was on the side. The company left the headphone jack and increased the number of sensors at the top of the screen ..

During the presentation, Samsung sounded almost everything that we already knew about the new products. The main focus of the manufacturer made the photo and video capabilities of the Galaxy S9. So, the device can really shoot ultra-slow rollers at a speed of 960 frames per second. Thanks to the built-in motion sensor in the camera, the device can automatically start recording when a moving object hits the field of view of the lens. After recording, the user can select background music from 35 different options or add a melody from his own music library. From video clips, you can create GIF files executed in three different looping styles with a single click on the screen. They can also be edited and forwarded.

Rumors of a double diaphragm (F1.5-F2.4) of a new camera have been confirmed. It automatically adapts to conditions of too bright light or insufficient lighting. The fashionable “chip” appeared in the form of animated emotions. As noted in Samsung, the “selfmigration” function uses an algorithm of machine learning that analyzes a 2D image of the user and fixes more than 100 parameters of his face in order to create a personalized 3D model with the same facial expressions – for example, nodding or winking. Self-help allows you to share your emotions not only with video, but also with stickers in the standard AGIF format, which is supported by most popular instant messengers.Other innovations include AKD stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos surround sound support, a pre-installed SmartThings application for managing all smart home devices and advanced AR support.Nothing new about the technical characteristics, we did not know – they can be read in the morning note . Let’s clarify that the Galaxy S9 + differs from the Galaxy S9 by the presence of a dual camera with dual optical stabilization, 6 GB (instead of 4 GB) of RAM and a slightly larger display – 6.2 inches instead of 5.8.

“Dying” the day before the presentation of the video with the design of the Galaxy S9 and S9 +

Camera
The most interesting detail in all the leaks about the Galaxy S9 is the camera. In the international smartphone teaser, the company claims that it “invented the camera anew”.

According to various sources, the mobile camera S9 will be the first to change the diaframe (it allows to change the depth of field and affects the exposure). Also reported on the “super slo-mo” – a slow-motion mode with the ability to capture 960 frames per second and record video in HDR-mode – with an increased range of colors and brightness.

This is hinted by a picture of the Galaxy S9 packaging, which appeared on the network shortly before the presentation and commercials produced on the Korean YouTube channel of the company. Judging by the picture, the S9 will have one camera with two lenses, tuned to different modes of the aperture – for day and night illumination.

According to Twitter user with the UniverseIce nickname, Samsung decided to add a 3D sensor to the front side of the S9. It is designed to recognize faces when unlocking the smartphone and works on the principle of the Face ID from Apple.

According to 9to5Google, Samsung has developed its own system of animated emoji like Animoji. However, it is noted that they will not be limited to some pre-created set of models.

Screen, battery and specifications

The diagonal of the screen Galaxy S9 will remain the same as that of its predecessor – 5.8 inches. It will be curved and will continue the trend of Samsung on the use of AMOLED-displays, providing a bright picture with high contrast. The aspect ratio also does not change and will be 18.5: 9 with a resolution of 1440 × 2960 pixels. According to the first rumors, the Galaxy S9 wanted to integrate a fingerprint scanner into the screen , but eventually the company refused it.

One of the teasers hinted that the new smartphone from Samsung would be convenient to use in the rain. In 2016, the company just bought a license for a technology that repels water from the glass surface.

S9 will receive a battery for three thousand milliampere-hours – the same as in the S8. Due to increased energy efficiency, the smartphone will work longer. It can be charged wirelessly – as well as the predecessor.

American versions of Samsung Galaxy S9, apparently, will run on eight-core processors Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Four core of the chip will run at a clock frequency of 2.8 gigahertz, and others at a frequency of 1.8 gigahertz.

It is noted that these are the “fastest cores” that Qualcomm ever did: they provide 30% better performance than the previous Snapdragon 835 and will use less energy. In addition, the processor supports recording 4K-video in 60 frames per second.

In all other countries except the USA, the S9 will be sold with Samsung Exynos 9810 processors. The processor has an LTE modem that supports a connection speed of up to 1.2 Gigabits per second – faster than any other smartphone in 2018. Samsung will equip its smartphones with 4 gigabytes of RAM. S9 and S9 + will retain moisture protection according to IP68.

Price and release date

According to sources from Techradar sources and data from an anonymous informant @evleaks on Twitter, S9 will cost about 775 dollars in the US and 841 euros  in Europe.

Pre-order the smartphone will be from March 1, and in stores it will go by the middle of the month.

Other Features

According to the “gritty” in the network video with the announcement of S9, the smartphone can be used as a mouse and keyboard in the “desktop” mode. This became possible due to the improvement of the DexPad docking station, presented with the S8.

In addition, in S9 Samsung improved the retinal scanner: its resolution increased to 3 Mp compared to 2 Mp in the Galaxy S8. It is reported that it should work faster. Thanks to the introduction of a 3D sensor, the company will be able touse a dual method of recognition – in the eyes and face.

According to rumors, in S9 the Korean company has introduced AKG stereo speakers, and the kit can be bundled with Bluetooth wireless headphones. This information is also confirmed in the picture of the box from S9.

In addition, in the new Galaxy model, an air pollution sensor may appear. Recently it became known that Samsung has a patent for such a sensor.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, S9 will support two SIM-cards, but this may be relevant only for the Asian version of the smartphone.
