On February 21, Argentine policeman Ivan Bliznyuk, who arrived from Rome with his acquaintance, was detained at the Esare international airport near Buenos Aires. He was suspected of involvement in the creation of a cocaine supply channel to Russia. This was reported by the local edition of Clarin.
According to the publication, the son of Russian emigrants Ivan Bliznyuk previously studied and worked in St. Petersburg and Moscow for a linguist. Thanks to his knowledge of the language, he acted as the “connecting link” of the Argentine police with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. In his social networks, Bliznyuk spoke of ties in diplomatic circles, including with Russia. In the apartment policeman found dollars, euros and jewelry.
According to the Argentine media, in December 2016, Russian ambassador to Argentina Victor Coronelli told the local Ministry of Security about the discovery of suspicious 12 suitcases. They were sent to the school at the diplomatic mission, having registered as a diplomatic cargo. Siloviki, who opened their suitcases, found 389 kilograms of cocaine. This became known only now, because the information was classified.
During the investigation, the special services carried out a controlled delivery, replacing the drug with flour, installing the GPS cases on the suitcases and sending them a dispatch to Russia. Four suspects were detained there, whose names have not yet been disclosed: probably, there are four diplomats and a chauffeur.
Sources TASS and ” Lentee.ru ” in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reported that the special services of Russia and Argentina jointly conducted the operation. It is assumed that the supply chain operated between Moscow and Buenos Aires. Argentine security officials suggested that in the event of a sale during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the price of cocaine could increase several fold. The fact that the drug was planned to be implemented during the World Cup in Russia, has not yet been confirmed.
