ARM proposed to integrate SIM-cards into mobile processors
ARM company proposed to use iSIM-cards in the devices connected to the network, which will be integrated into mobile processors and will allow to save space as well as money. Now, for comparison, the SIM-card costs “tens of cents”, they say in ARM. iSIM will cost “a single digit”.
However, this does not mean the disappearance of familiar SIM-cards, since iSIM is planned to be used in IoT-devices, in particular various wireless sensors and the like. The goal of ARM is to minimize their final cost.
As recalled by The Verge, in the mobile phone industry there is an alternative, eSIM-cards – embedded SIM, which is a built-in SIM card, programmed by the operator for a specific network.
