The scientists published the results of the largest research on the effect of alcohol on the factor of dementia development. Within the framework of the project, specialists studied 57 thousand cases of dementia of people up to age 65 years. It turned out that 57% of them regularly consumed alcohol.

According to the classification of the World Health Organization, a large dose is 60 grams of pure alcohol for men and 40 grams for women every day. Thus, three glasses of beer or two large glasses of wine with stable use significantly increase the likelihood of developing dementia.

Specialists also note that alcohol in large quantities reduces life expectancy by about 20 years, and dementia remains one of the main causes of death in drinking people.
