The Briton has overcome 37 thousand kilometers to drink in the southernmost and most northern bars of the world

38-year-old Briton Ben Coombs (Ben Coombs) drove about 37 thousand kilometers to drink in the northernmost and southernmost pubs in the world. His journey began on the island of Spitsbergen in the Arctic and ended on Tierra del Fuego in South America.

His expedition Coombs called “From pub to pub” (Pub2Pub). The man traveled all the way by car TVR Chimaera, ferrying it across the continents by sea. According to Coombs, the idea to arrange such a long “race in the bars” came to him for a mug of beer. The British easily found the “northernmost bar” in the Pyramid settlement on the island of Spitsbergen.

The pyramid is less than 1110 kilometers from the North Pole, this is the most northerly settlement on the planet with a permanent population and there is only one bar.

He noted that there are only four residents in the Pyramid. They live in an old hotel, where the only bar in the city is located.

Then Coombs began to look for the southernmost bar on Earth. He found out that there are bars in Antarctica, but they are either illegal or part of closed settlements, so he was looking for the southernmost bar outside of this continent. His choice fell on the Chilean Puerto Williams, located on the archipelago Fiery land.

To get there, Coombs traveled through Europe to the British Southampton in his car, which he calls Kermit. In August, from there, his car was sent to New York.

To get to Mexico, the man had to cross America and get to California. For all the time, his car seriously broke just one time: Coombs had to make a stop in Nicaragua to replace the clutch.

During the trip, the Briton found several friends with whom they traveled together on different sections of the road. According to Coombs, he quickly overcame Latin America. On February 12, 2018, he was in Puerto Williams, the southernmost bar on Earth.

Coombs did not like the Chilean bar, to which he traveled for 7 months. According to him, the whole menu in it consisted of lager and cheap beer, and the furniture was plastic.

Although this is not the most interesting place, which was worth 37 thousand kilometers, but it does not matter. It is important to travel, not the destination.
