In Poland on January 23, the cow escaped from the owner, who wanted to send her to the slaughterhouse. The animal demolished the metal fence and “flew away” to the nearest lake Nysa, wrote the Polish edition of Wiadomosci.
After the owner of the cow Lucas tried to return her to the farm, she broke his arm and rib. Then the cow entered the water and swam to the island in the middle of the lake. Lucas claims to have seen her dive underwater. The owner of the week tried to return the cow to the farm, but then surrendered and just began to follow, so that she had enough food.
The rescuers also tried to take the cow, but she noticed them and swam to another island. Pavel Gotovsky, the commander of the brigade, said that “the cow was frightened, but healthy.” The veterinarian, to whom Lucas turned to put the animal to sleep, said that he had had tranquilizers and should wait at least two weeks.
He also considered the option of shooting her, but one of the local politicians, Czeslaw Bilorban, said that the cow “must live peacefully with its own life,” noted The Independent.
In the fall of 2017 another cow in Poland escaped from the farm and joined a herd of bison in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
