18-year-old Russian figure skater Yevgeny Medvedev set a world record in his first performance at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. She won the short program of team competitions.
1. Evgeniya Medvedeva (Russia) – 81.06
2. Carolina Costner (Italy) – 75.10
3. Caitlin Osmond (Canada) – 71.38
Earlier, the world record also belonged to Medvedev – 80.85 points. This result she showed at the team championship in Tokyo in 2017 – then the team won silver.
Medvedev admitted that she never takes pride in herself: “I can be proud of the team, parents, coaches. And I have to work and show better results. ” Her first performance, she estimated modestly: “It’s normal. I was very focused. Probably, too much. ”
The national team of Olympic athletes from Russia took second place following the results of short programs. Free program teams will be held on 11 February. Medvedev will be replaced by Alina Zagitova.
