Once on a business trip in Izhevsk, a long time to look for what would occupy free time, yet the industrial town. Fortunately, friends suggested to visit one of the museums of small arms: Kalashnikov Museum or the Museum of Izhmash. I decided to opt for the first, second and leave a reserve.
Kalashnikov Museum was established in 2004, and the main part of the exhibition tells the story of famous designer Kalashnikov: a variety of illustrations devoted to the life of this remarkable man and, of course, the legendary AK-74 with a huge array of variations.
A little bit about his youth and about army life of Mikhail.
And here is the result of a long and fruitful life, honorary awards and products.
You could say, the exclusive sample Kalashnikov 1964 release and is not caught in a series: the trunk is set on top of a mechanism with rotating elements, which increases the accuracy and stability of the weapon. Incredibly, it’s 60 years!
Next to the museum Kalashnikov was presented to stand with modifications 7.62 mm and a prototype of the AL-2, also developed in 1964 and performed by the scheme bull-pupp.
Modern AK-74 and AK-100 rifles and “Wild Boar” and “Saiga”. Particularly interested in the variant with night light (left top), although now he looks awkward, but at the time of its inception was probably the masterpiece.
Not expected to see the replica, but the Kalashnikov museum surprised again. Representatives of the Chinese and Yugoslav production.
And then there are the Hungarian, Bulgarian and two Romanian modification.
At this exhibition AK-74 kind of ended, although it seems to me, could be supplemented by a collection of options that because of domestic, foreign that there is just an incredible amount.
Although the exhibition dedicated to the AK is over, but the museum Kalashnikov continued his story, this time presenting a uniform over the years.
Machine guns, sniper rifles and pistols that are not mass-produced. It seems to me that some of the models are not ashamed to be and when filming sci-fi thriller to use, it is very interesting shapes.
This version, code-named “Beer” it was a sin to miss).
Crannies of the Kalashnikov museum delayed me more than three hours, and I’m completely lost in time, considering the interesting pieces and getting a grasp in the detailed labels with the description.
Finally decided to visit the local museum touted as a shooting gallery on the ground floor. The peculiarity of this place is that you can not just enough to shoot from the pneumatics and kakih-nibud crossbows, but even from quite a battle trunks.
The cost of 5 shots of 250-500 rubles, depending on what weapon choose from.
Kalashnikov Museum in Izhevsk liked even more than I could have imagined, well, a shooting range – it’s just the essence of pleasure, important not to forget your passport, otherwise you can feel all this great power in his hands.
